Power of Strengths

In my early 20s, I was a young corporate leader with big goals of conquering the corporate ladder. I learned many things during my corporate career, however, Discovering Your Strengths was the one key building block that enabled me to continue to grow and excel in life. Over the years, I’ve continued to read and learn more about peoples gifts and strengths. I even found myself teaching others the magic of focusing on strengths because helping individual’s see their gifts with clarity brings so much joy to everyone involved.

When strengths were first introduced to me, it was a profound concept. It shed light on a fatal misconception I had come to accept.

I believed that focusing on my strengths was considered bragging. I believed, if I focused on my weaknesses hard enough, they could become strengths. And I’m not talking about practicing a skill for improvement. We’re talking core parts of myself.
You can imagine, that during my strengths introduction, how I felt alive again. It was although I was awakened and able to see a new image of myself. Awakened to the idea that I did not have to worry about correcting my weaknesses because my strengths were what brought joy, contentment, and would help overshadow the weak parts of me.

The truth is, I consistently have to remind myself that my strengths are an incredible asset. I have to remind myself that my strengths are the beautifully unique thing about how the Lord created me. And maybe, like me, you had been taught at a young age to focus on improving your weaknesses. And maybe, like me, your course has been refocused and you recognize the power of living fully in your strengths.

Friends, let me share a little secret. If you’re reading this and have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s not to late to begin realizing the power of strengths. This is the beginning of your paradigm shift.

I truly do not believe you can get started too early.

Which is why, when the opportunity to partner with a friend and open a school came, a strengths based approach to education seemed to be a dream come true. Helping children to know and articulate that there are innate strengths inside of each one of us waiting to be called out of the wilderness and be put to good work. That is a place I want my children to be part of.

Strengths grow confidence.

Strengths grow community.

Strengths grow people.

The brilliant Albert Einstein, whom didn’t speak well until the age of nine and was kicked out of school at twelve said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

Join us. Together, we will raise up a generation of children unashamed of who they are because they know the power that lies in their strengths.

Your Strengths Advocate,
